Position Overview:
As the Systems Engineer within the VODA IT Department, you will be responsible for defining technical product, architectural recommendations and overseeing infrastructure across all VODA divisions. You will build and maintain VODA's infrastructure, ensuring it supports long-term business objectives and security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure and Systems Management: Administer and maintain on-premises Dell PowerEdge servers, storage systems, and network infrastructure across multiple locations, as well as AWS and Azure services
- Critical Infrastructure Services: Manage and monitor Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other essential services, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises, cloud infrastructure with Azure AD.
- Cross-Platform Troubleshooting: Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve complex issues related to Windows, Linux (Ubuntu/FreeBSD), AWS, and O365 environments. This includes investigating and resolving within a hybrid infrastructure.
- Virtualization and Cloud Environments: Optimize and maintain both on-premises Hyper-V and AWS environments for high availability and scalability
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Ensure robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies are in place, including Veeam management for on-premises systems, AWS Backup with regular testing for all environments.
- Database Administration: Administer SQL Server, MariaDB including recovery, clustering, and high-availability strategies and working knowledge of AWS Aurora
- Manage and secure hybrid network environments with Meraki firewalls, Aruba wireless systems, AWS Security Groups, and PFSense, optimizing firewall rules, VLANs, VPNs, Layer 2/3 switches, NAT Policies, and access controls. Administer routing protocols and high-availability configurations and perform network performance tuning to ensure secure, efficient connectivity and uptime.
- Remote Access and Terminal Services: Manage Terminal Services environments and provide advanced support for remote users
- Security and Compliance: Develop, deploy, and enforce security policies using Active Directory Group Policies (GPO) and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). Ensure security configurations are aligned with organizational standards, monitor compliance, and regularly review access controls to maintain system integrity.
- Performance and Capacity Management: Monitor and maintain system performance across hybrid environments, utilizing tools such as AWS CloudWatch and O365 Admin Center for real-time monitoring, capacity planning, and ensuring systems are up-to-date with security patches and updates.
- Mentorship and Team Leadership: Provide mentoring and guidance to other system administrators and ecomm devlopers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field experience
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with proven expertise managing infrastructure, including on-premises, AWS, and O365 environments.
- Hybrid Cloud and O365 Expertise: In-depth experience managing AWS environments, O365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive), and on-premises systems, including a strong understanding of Azure AD, AWS IAM and O365 Admin Center.
- Windows and Linux Administration: Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server and Linux (Ubuntu, FreeBSD) operating systems.
- Backup and Recovery: Expertise in Veeam backup and recovery for on-prem systems and AWS Backup.
- Virtualization and Cloud: Advanced knowledge of Hyper-V, AWS EC2, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Network Security and Connectivity: Deep experience managing Meraki firewalls, Aruba wireless, Ubiquity and PFsense
- Scripting and Automation: Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automating infrastructure management
- O365 Administration: Solid understanding of O365 services, including Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams, with experience managing and troubleshooting across the O365 suite.
- Security and Compliance: Strong understanding of enforcing security policies using Active Directory GPO and AWS IAM, ensuring secure configurations and access controls.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team, while also driving independent projects and initiatives.
