The Senior Manager, Sales Tax is responsible for:
- Providing support to the Director, Sales Tax in fulfilling compliance, accounting, planning, and advisory functions with respect to federal goods & services tax (GST), including harmonized sales tax (HST), and provincial sales tax for the Bank and Canadian subsidiaries.
- Independently managing the sales tax responsibilities of the domestic subsidiaries.
- Taking a leading role in the sales tax automation for the Bank and domestic subsidiaries.

- Ensure accurate and timely completion of the sales tax compliance of the Bank and domestic subsidiaries:
- Prepare or review the annual GST return and quarterly installment payments.
- Review and document the input tax credit (ITC) allocation methodology.
- Oversee and manage information systems for sales tax:
- Recommend the development of new/enhanced commodity tax reporting systems/policies, procedures, and controls.
- Act as a sales tax subject matter expert:
- Assist the Director, Sales Tax in providing advice on sales tax implications of new products and services.
- Review intercompany transactions for sales tax efficiency.
- Complete in-depth analysis of transactions with foreign affiliates to determine sales tax obligations.
- Manage sales tax audits conducted by tax authorities:
- Liaise with government tax auditors during audits.
- Prepare technical analysis to respond to audit queries.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of GST, HST, and PST legislation to understand impacts on Bank operations.
- Pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values and Code of Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA - CA, CPA - CGA, or CPA - CMA).
- 5 to 8 years of dedicated sales tax experience, preferably in a financial institution.
- Completion of the CPA in-Depth GST/HST course; completion of GST/HST course in Financial services is an asset.
- Experience in data analytics tools such as Alteryx.
