We are currently seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to be based out of our Calgary, AB office. This position will work with our team of recognized industry experts within our Geotechnical Engineering group, and will have both field and laboratory work. We are willing to consider new graduates that have a passion for Geotechnical Engineering and want to learn from the best.

Some of the Responsibilities You May Have:

  • Working in all aspects of geotechnical investigations.
  • Evaluating geotechnical conditions for the design and construction.
  • Obtaining field data and preparing factual and interpretative engineering reports with the support of senior staff.
  • Working with field staff on construction aspects of the projects.
  • Communicating with clients, sub-consultants, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications that Would Make You A Great Candidate:

  • Minimum of an Undergraduate degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in a consulting engineering environment would be considered an asset but is not mandatory. 
  • Possess good technical writing skills.
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience in geotechnical modelling using finite element software (PLAXIS, etc), LPILE, WEAP, etc. is a definite asset.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), teamwork and mentorship skills are essential.
  • Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player.
  • Travel will be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments, generally within western Canada.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the manual field duties required.
  • Must be or eligible to register as a professional engineer in Alberta.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship.
  • Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship (a copy of a valid work permit may be required).
