Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Technical & Plant Director to oversee their manufacturing activities and meet business goals. This includes developing policies to increase productivity, assure quality, and resolve production issues. The role also involves leading plant expansion projects, sourcing contractors, and managing capital requirements.

The ideal candidate will have aggregate or building materials industry experience and will be available to work on-site 5 days a week from Monday to Friday.

Located: South of Barrie off HWY 400.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee supply chain management, planning, quality assurance, manufacturing, and repair
  • Support customer contracts through design development, R&D, and engineering services
  • Foster innovation and new methods within the plant
  • Build a progressive culture and develop the operations team
  • am.Plan facility utilization, upgrades, and changes
  • Manage staffing, including assessments, selection, evaluations, and development
  • Direct production, shipping, and maintenance leaders
  • Maintain ISO9001 certification and manage QA programs
  • Ensure safety through proper methods, equipment, training, and discipline
  • Manage budgeting and production cos
  • Develop and implement process, material, and equipment standards.
  • Plan and obtain necessary materials and equipment for the project
  • Maximize workforce productivity and manage yearly capital improvement
  • Maintain documentation for staff, contracts, certifications, and due diligence
  • Lead manufacturing and plant initiative
  • Develop and implement systems to improve the manufacturing process
  • eSupport new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Train line workers in problem-solving and production troubleshooting
  • Optimize manufacturing processes and raw material usage
  • Manage staff and recommend optimal staffing levels and schedules
  • Improve production standards and identify waste reduction opportunities
  • Develop plant or process flow layouts for producty
  • Provide cost analysis and maintain production documentation
  • Identify and address training needs
Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario Designation (P. Eng.).
Required Skills.
  • Strong inventory and production management. including experience with aggregates.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with vendors, customers, and internal departments
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and capable of multi-tasking
  • Detail-oriented and analytical thinker
  • Able to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in developing, reviewing, and maintaining metrics and audits.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management.
