JOB FUNCTION

Reporting directly to the Manager, Project Management Office, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing projects related to the development and implementation of new or enhanced systems and processes. This position will direct, lead and mentor other analysts in the areas of requirements documentation, testing strategies, standards, and tools.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess current business processes by conducting discussions with current employees, documentation analysis, business process descriptions, scenarios, task and workflow analysis to create detailed user stories for development including acceptance criteria
  • Produce high quality deliverables on time, including business requirements, project plans, test plans, test scenarios/cases, functional designs, and knowledge transfer materials
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing to ensure features and functions have been enabled
  • Partake in and/or lead fact-gathering and decision-making sessions to negotiate and document business scope, functional requirements, and priorities, as well as identifying gaps in current solutions
  • Aid in designing workshops and review solution designs created by functional and technical analysts, representing the interests of the business and verifying the solution is fit for purpose and meets documented requirements
  • Support the development and maintenance of user training documentation
  • Contribute to the implementation of integrated solutions to improve the business functionality and overall performance for system users, while maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and capture project related requirements with the subject matter experts and project sponsors
  • Collaborate with internal parties, third-party business, and technical teams as required to optimize utilization of data and generation of complete, timely, and accurate reports
  • Assist the Project Managers to track, monitor, and communicate project and enhancement progress and status against project plans, requirements, quality measures, standard processes, and milestones
  • Effectively communicate with all areas of the team (management, design/UX, development and quality assurance) to coordinate efforts
  • Actively participate in workstream review meetings providing status input to the business sponsors and Program Directors
  • Engage in workstream meetings and perform tasks including project implementation planning, providing estimates, identifying risks, recommending mitigation strategies, and other project support as required
  • Liaise with technical staff to provide the business perspective during analysis and design of specifications for business applications
  • Perform other related projects and duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e., Business, Computer Science, Information Systems) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required
  • 5-7 years of directly related experience
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams including Enterprise Architecture, Application Architecture, Security, Privacy, User Experience, Developers, Quality Assurance, and Subject Matter Experts in a collaborative team environment
  • Previous experience using project tools such as Microsoft Project and TestRail would be considered an asset
  • Extensive experience utilizing Jira is required
  • Extensive experience in Agile project management methodology is required
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with an ability to easily learn new software applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both the user community and IT, and expertise in setting and managing customer expectations
  • Proven analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills, including the ability to recognize challenges, identify causes and provide solutions
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background check
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on an unrestricted basis
  • Working knowledge and past experiences with Enterprise Architect by Sparx or any other modeling tools is an asset
