Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Business Transformation Strategy, Planning, and Engagement for the R3 Project is responsible for developing and implementing a variety of planning, engagement, and strategic communication functions to support the business transformation goals of the R3 project.

The Senior Manager will support the project executive lead and executive sponsor by providing leadership and project strategic planning to support business cutover and continuity planning, College engagement, and working with College leadership to support new business process planning and implementation. The Senior Manager will work as a part of the R3 leadership team and with project partners to enhance community awareness, socialization, and engagement through the critical implementation phases of the project.

Supported by the Organizational Change Management (OCM) team, the Senior Manager will lead engagement and adoption efforts with cross-college departments, at multiple levels, in support of the College’s R3 Project goals and benefits realization; this includes but is not limited to leadership engagement in business process walk-throughs, business continuity and cut-over planning, identifying opportunities or gaps, and strategically supporting the College business transformation to and beyond system Go-Live.

The Senior Manager will engage in regular consultations with and provide strategic planning and communications advice to the R3 Project Executive, Leaders, Steering Committee, Implementation Committee, and Working Groups to support and inform business planning and decision making.

Leveraging data and insights, the Senior Manager will support the key milestones, metrics, and results of strategic transformation efforts. This includes providing content for Senior Leadership reporting and developing strategic communications outreach; and directly supporting investment case benefits reporting for the Executive Sponsor.

Benefits reporting requires exceptional skill in articulating complex work in a way that is succinct, meaningful and generally consumable. This position will take a lead role on related transformation reporting and strategic communications including guiding the Organizational Change Management team on related work.

This position will augment and complement existing related work in change management, business transformation, organizational design and training.

Works with College Deans, Directors, Chairs, Managers and others to manage the communications of implementation work for each of the business-related modules and portfolios. This translates into effectively communicating hundreds of decisions, at different levels of approval as well as enablers of the processes. Knowledge of the affected roles and work, especially for core system users, is leveraged daily to enable the necessary and extensive consultation to ensure that the project activities and implementation outcomes are aligned with the College’s and the client’s business and strategic objectives with specific focus on the Student Information System Project.

Will work in conjunction with the information technology management team, registrar’s office, and academic development, academic operations and planning to ensure that policies, procedures, processes and client service delivery is consistent and seamless.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum four (4) year bachelor's degree in Business or Computer Science or other relevant fields;
  • MBA is considered an asset to this role;
  • Minimum of nine (9) years’ experience in the following areas:
    • IT or Business leadership position overseeing teams that support enterprise business systems, preferably commercial enterprise systems environment;
    • Working with Enterprise Information Management Systems (GeneSiS, Workday, Adaptive Insights, Salesforce, PowerBI, Infosilem);
    • Post-Secondary Education.
  • ITIL Foundations, Project Management Professional (PMP), Change Management are considered as an asset;
  • Leadership Training (such as ALEI or equivalent);
  • Extensive direct experience working in the Algonquin College Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment including in-depth knowledge of GeneSiS, academic and enrolment processes;
  • Extensive experience with all Registrar’s Office operations, processes and policies including the Minister’s Binding Policy Directives;
  • Demonstrated human resource experience; this position requires prior people management experience, experience with unionized environments Project management, strategic planning and system implementation experience preferred;
  • Experience with relational data modelling and reporting;
  • Experience with Applications by Form coding and Ingres database technologies;
  • Experience in managing staff, operations and capital budgets in excess of $2M annually;
  • Ability to work effectively with upper management, peers and front-line staff;
  • Ability to provide presentations to senior executives regarding functional and technical service delivery strategies, user experience, issues and options.

This position is eligible for Flexible Work Arrangement except non-local as increased on-site work is expected in latter phases of the project.
