ESTIMATOR

Reporting to :    VP Estimating and Procurement
Location:      Montréal, Québec
Under the supervision of the VP Estimating and Procurement, the Estimator will be responsible for estimating and analyzing project costs, producing the construction budget proposals as well as participating in the procurement process. The main responsibilities include:

RESPONSIBILITIES
·        Analyse drawings and specifications in order to divide scope of work into packages according to specialties and prepare detailed scope of work related to each package;
·        Take-off general quantities of project materials, manpower, etc;
·        Prepare detailed estimate of project using quantities & related unit costs and budget prices from related subcontractors;
·        Propose cost saving alternatives (value engineering);
·        Prepare detailed tendering, procurement, long lead items and construction schedule;
·        Prepare, issue and manage the tendering process to subcontractors;
·        Analyse tenders & issue levelling chart with results;
·        Participate in negotiations & awards;
·        Ensure timely issuance of PO’s and contracts for signatures;
·        Transfer all information of tender & awards to project management team;
·        Update and maintain a database of scope of work & unit costs from results of tender/award process;
·        Prepare & update final project costs (Class A Estimate);
·        Support project team during lifecycle of project for contract compliance and change order analysis;
·        Participate in preconstruction design meetings & construction meetings when required.

QUALIFICATIONS
·        Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in building estimation for a general contractor.
·        Technical degree in Estimating or Engineering degree preferred;
·        Ability to negotiate and maintain strategic partnerships.
·        In-depth understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil plans.
·        Good technical knowledge of construction materials, construction methods, and industry standards.
·        Proficiency in Excel, Autocad, Revit, MS Project, PDF (e.g., Bluebeam), and other estimation software like Planswift.
·        Current database of material costs, hourly worker production, overhead costs, and other construction-related costs.
·        Experience in preparing scopes of work.
·        Systematic and organized.
·        Ability to perform meticulous and accurate calculations.
·        Ability to collect, classify, and evaluate useful data in estimation.

Sous la supervision du VP de l'estimation et des achats, l'estimateur(trice) sera responsable de l'estimation et de l'analyse des coûts des projets, de produire des propositions de budget de construction ainsi que de participer au processus d'approvisionnement. Ses principales responsabilités incluent :

Responsabilités:
·        Analyser les plans et les spécifications afin de diviser la portée des travaux en packages selon les spécialités et préparer une description détaillée des travaux liés à chaque package.
·        Effectuer des estimations quantitatives générales du projet, des matériaux, de la main-d'œuvre, etc.
·        Préparer une estimation détaillée du projet en utilisant les quantités et les coûts unitaires associés, ainsi que les prix budgétaires des sous-traitants concernés.
·        Proposer des alternatives pour réduire les coûts (ingénierie de la valeur).
·        Élaborer des offres détaillées, des approvisionnements, des articles à long délai et des calendriers de construction.
·        Gérer le processus d'appel d'offres auprès des sous-traitants.
·        Analyser les offres et produire un tableau comparatif des résultats.
·        Participer aux négociations et aux attributions de contrats.
·        Veiller à l'émission en temps opportun des bons de commande et des contrats pour signature.
·        Transférer toutes les informations relatives aux offres et aux attributions à l'équipe de gestion de projet.
·        Mettre à jour et maintenir une base de données des descriptions de travaux et des coûts unitaires à partir des résultats du processus d'appel d'offres/attributions.
·        Préparer et mettre à jour les coûts finaux du projet (Estimation de Classe A).
·        Soutenir l'équipe de projet tout au long du cycle de vie du projet pour le respect du contrat et l'analyse des ordres de changement.
·        Participer aux réunions de conception préalable à la construction et aux réunions de construction lorsque nécessaire.

Compétences:
·        Minimum 5 à 10 ans d'expérience en estimation de bâtiments pour un entrepreneur général.
·        Diplôme technique en estimation ou diplôme d'ingénieur préféré ;
·        Aptitude à négocier et à entretenir des partenariats stratégiques.
·        Compréhension approfondie des plans d'architecture, mécanique, électrique, structure et civil.
·        Bonne connaissance technique des matériaux de construction, des méthodes de construction et des normes de l'industrie.
·        Maîtrise des logiciels tels que Excel, Autocad, Revit, MS Project, PDF (Bluebeam par exemple) et autres logiciels d'estimation comme Planswift.
·        Base de données à jour sur les coûts des matériaux, la production horaire des travailleurs, les frais généraux et autres coûts liés à la construction.
·        Expérience en préparation d'étendues de travaux.
·        Méthodique et organisé.
·        Capacité à effectuer des calculs minutieux et précis.
·        Compétence dans la collecte, la classification et l'évaluation de données utiles en estimation.
