Description:

North America Battey Technology Centre is currently seeking an Automation Engineer to develop test scripts for executing various development and validation tests for EV battery packs. The successful candidate has an opportunity to contribute to a world-class battery lab from the launch stage all the way to the full operation. Initially, the role will be focused on training, documentation, and the launch of the lab; the candidate will be required to complete all needed training and follow all lab safety processes. The role responsibilities would shift to creating and maintaining all testing scripts, managing common test solutions and variables within the Company. The Automation Engineer will ensure all test scripts meet safety and functional requirements. The role will maintain an open line of communication with all test requestors to stay current with various testing needs; provide support at testbeds as needed to ensure the proper execution of test scripts; identify and troubleshoot issues during the test process.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  1. In lab launch stage:
    • Complete required training; follow safety requirements.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and equipment suppliers to develop and validate test scripts.
    • Provide essential support during commissioning and acceptance tests.
  2. Lab in full operation:
    • Develop, validate, and maintain test scripts.
    • Ensure all test scripts meet safety requirements and maintain the highest quality.
    • Implement best practices across all test scripts.
    • Coordinate common variables and solutions among various battery labs within Company Group.
    • Proactively identify and troubleshoot issues within the test system and scripts.
    • Support test engineers in root cause analysis and project meetings.
    • Assist in test data processing.
    • Support initiatives aimed at enhancing lab operation efficiency and reducing costs.
    • Keep training record up to date.
    • Escalate issues to management when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in scripting for testing, automation of hardware systems (excluding software app testing).
  • Proficient in programming languages, such as VB Script, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Knowledge of CAN communication.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent skills to write clear, concise, and accurate documents.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with AVL PUMA/LYNX scripting.
  • Experience with CAN tools such as Vector CANalyzer.
  • Knowledge of Lithium-ion battery and characterization.
  • Experience with battery pack testing or related systems testing.
  • Stay updated with advancements in test automation and data management.
  • Proficiency in programming in general.
  • Experience in writing test scripts for testing, automation of hardware systems (excluding pure software app testing).
  • Knowledge about EV batteries and tests; open to learning if no previous knowledge on batteries and batteries tests - 3 years or more experience.

Location: Hybrid (ARDC, 3939 Rhodes Drive, Windsor, ON, CA), The ratio tends to be more onsite when the time comes closer to the lab launch.
No Driving a Stellantis Vehicle
Travel: Occasional Travel to the US CTC or 3rd party facility in MI (1-2 times per month at most) for meetings. THIS IS PREFERRED - However, the manager will consider candidates that are not permitted to travel at all.
