Position Summary

The IT Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for all aspects related to the design, implementation, and administration of Farrow’s Windows/Linux server virtualized and cloud environments. Farrow’s infrastructure is a diverse mix of technologies, the IT Systems Engineer will investigate emerging technologies and provide recommendations on which solutions best addresses our changing needs. You will design and deploy scalable, available, fault-tolerant, and reliable infrastructure throughout the Farrow organization. The IT Systems Engineer should bring proven hands-on knowledge of systems and processes and not only provide expertise in designing system and network solutions but provide mentorship and guidance to the Jr. and Int. roles. The successful candidate must be available to work occasional evening and weekend hours and participate in the rotating after-hours on-call support schedule. Some travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced, proven knowledge of Active Directory design and configuration of DNS, Group Policy, WINS, TCP/IP, LDAP, Remote Desktop Services, and Web Services
  • Strong Linux based administration skills
  • Solid understanding of cloud-based infrastructures (Azure) with a focus on hybrid cloud integrations
  • Advanced knowledge of server hardware technologies, including hardware configurations, SAN management, and server cluster management
  • Experienced in VMware vSphere infrastructure management with a focus on VSAN
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery and Virtual machine backup and recovery methodologies
  • A strong knowledge around multi-tier application platforms like Websphere
  • Provide leadership towards the design and implementation of best practice security initiatives including the deployment and management of modern anti-virus and Managed Detection & Response software
  • Experience with the management of Microsoft 365 services in an AD connected environment, Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online
  • Strong scripting experience within Linux and Microsoft environments.
  • Understanding of network concepts and how they play a part in a modern data center
  • Provide leadership around Farrow’s technology stack
  • Plan, document and execute on complex projects
  • Participate in on call rotation

Education and Experience

  • Community college diploma or university degree in computer science or a related discipline or equivalent on the job experience
  • More than four years of experience providing technical support in an IT environment
  • Possess the appropriate industry certifications and training path
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and objectives
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to help other employees
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail and follow-up
  • Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
