Mortgage Funder, Third Party Residential Underwriting – BMBEToronto, ON, CanadaJob DescriptionPosted Monday, December 29, 2025 at 5:00 AM | Expires Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 4:59 AMWe are hiring a Mortgage Funder, Third Party Residential Underwriting – BMBEReporting To:Manager, Third Party Residential Underwriting – BMBEFull-Time/Part- Time:Full-timePosting Date:December 29, 2025Closing Date:January 9, 2026Hours of Work:8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Grade:Office Location:6.7Downtown, TorontoGreat location Steps away from the main public transit stationWhat we offer:Highly competitive compensation package which includes, base salary, bonus, benefits, and career advancement opportunitiesEligibility for benefits is dependent on the terms of employmentThe OpportunityThe Third-party Residential Underwriting Division, as a Division of First National Financial provides underwriting expertise and services on behalf of other financial institutions to the Canadian Mortgage Broker channel.The Residential Mortgage Funder is responsible for instructing, advancing and closing mortgage files.How you will contributeCheck with law society for entitlement of solicitorCheck information to ensure accuracy, i.e. correct lender, CMHC/GE approvalContact solicitor to confirm that he/she is acting on mortgagor’s behalfPrepare and send applicable instructional package to solicitor along with relevant documentsFollow up with solicitor to obtain advance requestOrganize mortgage file in correct orderCheck the request for funds from the solicitorSend the mortgage advance sheet to the accounting departmentSend the solicitor a list of outstanding conditions, mortgage commitment and mortgage advance breakdownContact solicitor when funds are readyFollow up with solicitor prior to closingContact solicitor to advise that funds can be releasedEnsure that all conditions have been met, all documentation has been received and that file is complete on the day of closingClose files in the system and send to accounting departmentReview solicitor mortgage documentation to ensure it corresponds to the terms of the commitment and is in compliance with established regulatory and company guidelines and policiesEscalate any documentation issues to the Mortgage Underwriter and/or Manager for reviewCoordinate with mortgage accounting for the release of mortgage funds on a timely basisRespond to all inquiries within the established turnaround timesAdhere to policy/procedures to ensure AML and Quality Assurance requirements are metSkills and AttributesStrong communication skills, verbal and writtenProven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-taskDemonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periodsPost-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience preferredCompetency in MS Office; capacity to learn new technologies/systemsCompletion of Mortgage Agent Course and/or Financial Services Regulatory Authority(FSRA)License an assetEducation/Certification/Experience RequirementsCompleted post-secondary education or equivalent work experience requiredPrevious experience within Mortgage industry an assetCompletion of Mortgage Agent Course and/or FICOM License an assetWorking knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment requiredWorking Environment and Physical Demands AnalysisPeriods of high volume with tight timelinesLong periods of stationary position/sittingProlonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)Long periods of time in viewing a computer screenMulti-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program.Competitive CompensationComprehensive benefits program (i.e., Health Spending Account, Maternity and Parental Leave Top Up)Extensive training programs to set our employees up for successModern office environment conducive to collaborationSupportive teamwork cultureOpportunities to give back to the communities and work through events focused on a variety of charitiesOngoing social events throughout the yearThe team you’ll joinFounded in 1988, First National is one of Canada’s largest non-bank lenders.
