CEO of a startup building a new generation of Metalenses

QV Studio is actively seeking an exceptional entrepreneur to lead our cutting-edge startup, established this year and based in Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada), that will revolutionize the world of the quantum internet. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background with several years of experience within the optics, packaging, optical sensors/cameras and/or machine vision, along with a track record of success in business-oriented positions such as product management, customer service, or business development.
Joining our team means committing 30 hours per week as an entrepreneur in residence for 3 months (August to October 2024). During this period, the successful candidate will engage with the team, collaboratively develop a detailed 24 to 36-month roadmap for the startup, actively participate in the company's incorporation, and assist in securing the first financing rounds from the studio and our partner investors. Following this initial phase, the candidate will transition to a full-time CEO role starting in January 2025.
As a startup CEO, you will need to fully dedicate yourself (full-time position) to this entrepreneurial journey, demonstrate a strong appetite for risk-taking, and possess expertise in relevant domains. Previous experience in co-founding or leading early-stage tech companies is highly valued, as is a strong foundation in essential startup disciplines such as sales, product management, or marketing. Proficiency in pitching to investors and securing capital is crucial (we will provide support), along with a desire to drive meaningful impact in the quantum technology sector.
QV Studio offers a unique opportunity to build your startup with an efficient safety net. Our pioneering venture studio specializes in creating and de-risking startups in the quantum technology sector. In collaboration with our partner investors, Quantacet and Quantonation, we have created a new methodology integrated into a 3-year curriculum. Our approach transforms the arduous process of founding a deeptech startup into an efficient, community-driven journey.
As part of our portfolio companies, you will gain access to substantial investment, 1 000 hours of consultancy, training, and mentoring across various domains including executive, operational, financial, technological, marketing, communication, and human resources. Additionally, you will benefit from cutting-edge technological platforms, services, and partnership opportunities.
The team you will be joining includes a strong CTO who conducted extensive customer discovery to identify the best applications of the technology, protected by an initial portfolio of patents. Additionally, an academic leader in the quantum field will serve as a scientific advisor and will contribute to the research and development efforts of the startup. Over the next 2.5 years, QV Studio employees and hired consultants will work with you to build your team and raise a seed round of 5 to 10M$.
