Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and complete field programs for contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II & III Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological investigations, soil/groundwater/surface water/sediment/soil vapour sampling programs, and contaminated site remediation projects.
  2. Complete documentation of field activities, site health and safety meetings, among others in paper and digital formats.
  3. Completion of activities including preparation of sampling plans, collection and compilation of field data, digital geo-referenced data, and completion of field notes.
  4. Contribution to environmental monitoring tasks on construction and industrial sites.
  5. Assist in preparation of environmental assessment reports, including: compilation and analysis of data, borehole logs and test pit logs.
  6. Assist with designated hazardous substance surveys including asbestos and lead sampling and assist in air emissions testing programs.
  7. Operate, calibrate, and maintain project specific equipment.
  8. Ability to work remotely for up to two weeks.
  9. Ability to work overtime when required.
  10. Ability to work alone in the field with guided direction or partial supervision.
Project Coordination
  1. Coordinate with laboratories, clients, subcontractors, third-party stakeholders.
  2. Assist in report writing and preparation of technical memos, letters, reports, spreadsheets and figures.
  3. Providing assistance to project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams (including project engineers, planners, biologists, technologists), with the opportunity to develop into a Project Manager.

Qualifications
  1. A degree in Geology, Geoscience, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science or a related environmental discipline.
  2. Entry level to 2 years of experience in environmental consulting and/or related work experience.
  3. Strong work ethic with genuine interest in environmental consulting and field work.
  4. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  5. Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  6. A valid G driver’s license.
  7. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  8. Willingness to work remotely in the field for up to two weeks.
  9. Ability to work overtime when required.
  10. Eligibility to register as a or . (or member in training) will be an asset.
Experience
  1. Knowledge of Phased Environmental Site Assessments, remediation and/or hazardous building material surveys.
  2. Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines, including Ontario Regulations 153/04 and 406/19.
  3. Knowledge of field procedures relating to borehole drilling and monitoring well installation, soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater sampling, soil and groundwater remediation, construction monitoring and/or hazardous building material surveys.
  4. Proficient in data entry, data compilation and the management of databases.
  5. Proficient in the writing of technical reports.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint).
  7. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
