Benmet Steel & Metal is a leader in the Canadian scrap and recycling industry located in the heart of Guelph, ON. We are one of the most established and reputable independent scrap metal processors in Ontario. We are looking for motivated individuals to join our growing team.

The Ferrous Supervisor is a key role in the production of recycling ferrous scrap metal. The primary function is to manage the daily operations and employees of the ferrous processing yard. This is a leadership position where you will ensure the safe and efficient execution of all duties by yard staff.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day operations of the ferrous yard. Adjust yard processing to meet production demands and improve inefficiencies
• Manage employees and take while implementing safety rules to all yard staff
• Conduct monthly inspections and physical inventory counts. Review equipment inspections daily
• Prepare and review outbound shipments. Oversee all inbound shipments and outbound as needed
• Various other tasks will be required and assigned as needed for continuous flow of operations
• Create and maintain a safe work environment. Follow all Benmet and OSHA safety requirements in all aspects of the day-to-day operations and lead by example to all employees
• Ensure Materials shipped meet the exact requirements of the customer’s order

Requirements

• 3-5 years of supervisor experience with previous experience in metal recycling operations or heavy manufacturing
• Familiarity and basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment
• Effective, working knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals would be considered an asset
• Well cultivated interpersonal and management skills
• Mental dexterity; the ability to work independently while demonstrating high attention to detail and continuous awareness
