The Opportunity:

Our Northern Ontario team has an opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Resources Engineering group, to work on both new construction and rehabilitation projects. The Resources Engineering group also provides service to institutional and government clients. You will apply your structural design knowledge on project work from conceptual design through completion. Technical quality, cost effectiveness, building and maintaining client relationships, and providing guidance to a team of designers are integral parts of this role.

What you can expect to do here:
  1. Complete structural designs and calculations for buildings and industrial structures.
  2. Make technical decisions and take responsibility on technical matters.
  3. Design management with input from other senior engineers on technical decisions.
  4. Coordinate with various disciplines required for project implementation.
  5. Write and review technical reports, and construction specifications.
  6. Site investigation, inspection, and evaluate conditions of existing structures.
  7. Occasional travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and conduct field reviews.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP:

Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the Province of Ontario in Civil or Structural Engineering; Over 7 years of relevant experience in the design of concrete and steel structures in Canada; Possess in depth or broad knowledge, skills and practices for industrial projects; Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs; Proficiency in application of Canadian Codes and Standards; and Proficiency in structural design software S-Frame, Staad Pro, or SAP.
