CORE FRENCH TEACHER
Part-time (0.65 FTE) Term position
West Bay IB World School
Effective September 3, 2024 until June 30, 2025
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $50,000 to $104,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant will:
- have a solid understanding and proven experience implementing self-regulation strategies to support all learners.
- be completely bilingual and have previous experience as a French specialist teacher, preferably in an IB PYP School;
- have a proven ability to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;
- be willing to work with our IB Coordinator and classroom teachers to find authentic ways to integrate French into the IB Units of Inquiry;
- be familiar with the BC Curriculum, including the Core Competencies and the “Know, Understand, Do” elements of the curriculum;
- have a demonstrated ability to plan, teach, and assess a Kindergarten to Grade 7 second language French program;
- possess competent teaching methods to inspire learning with both primary and intermediate-aged students;
- be able to integrate technology authentically into the curriculum to enhance the teaching and learning of French;
- provide regular communication to parents outlining aspects of the French program under study;
- demonstrate an ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners through a broad array of teaching strategies (e.g., English Language Learners and students with a variety of needs);
