Founded in 2013, Digital Moment (formerly Kids Code Jeunesse) is a Montreal-based charity part of a global network of organizations working to mobilize communities to build a better future through digital literacy education. For over a decade, Digital Moment has been advancing digital literacy by focusing on creating impactful programs and experiences for youth and their communities on digital skills such as coding, algorithm and data literacy, and artificial intelligence. Digital Moment encompasses three educational initiatives: Kids Code Jeunesse, Digital2030, and the Social Innovation Lab. We’ve already reached over a million youth with our initiatives and are thriving towards an even bigger impact in the years to come.

We are continuously innovating and creating new initiatives to serve our mission and engaging youth in ways that empower them to become engaged citizens in a digital era. We take our commitments seriously and want to ensure we deliver on our commitments to all stakeholders, including funders, partners, and most importantly, youth and educators.

We are currently looking for a Board Director to help execute on our current strategy, create innovative strategies to deliver on our impact goals and theory of change. We are looking for someone who can provide insight, advice, governance and support to the organization in its growing success.

With the growing interest and emergence for Artificial Intelligence, Cybersafety, Ethical use of Technology, Digital Moment is in a pivotal stage of its growth. We have a very tangible opportunity to make a difference in the future of Canadian youth, empowering them with the tools to be an active citizen in their communities.

Requirements of the Board Membership include:

  • Commitment of time, presence at meetings and taking action to support the work of Digital Moment (~ 2 hours monthly);
  • Passion for the work Digital Moment does;
  • Willingness to listen to others’ views, advocate their own, identify common interests and alternatives, and to take action when needed;
  • Knowledge and skills in one or more areas needed: digital literacy, tech skills (AI, cybersecurity, etc), volunteer strategy, impact data and storytelling;
  • Commitment of time for preparation and participation in Board meetings, as well representing Digital Moment at special events and in the community (mostly in Montreal);
  • Support of Digital Moment in participation and promotion of fundraising events, make introductions to Digital Moment’s CEO in hopes it leads to an important partnership or funding opportunity;
  • Willingness to contribute to the work of the Board as a member on a board committee or through contribution to other aspects of the work of the organization;
  • Adhere to the full participation and understanding of the organizations commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Experience with Board governance.

The ideal candidate has been on a Board of Directors before and have been involved in the Board Governance process. They have experience and an extensive network in the tech space. They have experience and an extensive network in the education space. They have a strong understanding of government and ministers relations and could connect us with potential opportunities.

Fondé en 2013, Moment numérique (anciennement Kids Code Jeunesse) est un organisme de bienfaisance basé à Montréal, au Québec. Il fait partie d'un réseau mondial d'organisations qui travaillent à rassembler les collectivités afin de bâtir un avenir meilleur grâce à l'éducation à la littératie numérique. Depuis plus de dix ans, Moment numérique promeut la littératie numérique en créant des programmes et des expériences d'apprentissage ayant un impact sur les jeunes et leurs collectivités, centrés sur les compétences numériques telles que le codage, la littératie des algorithmes et des données et l'intelligence artificielle. Moment numérique comprend trois initiatives éducatives : Kids Code Jeunesse, Digital2030 et le Lab d'innovation sociale. Nous avons déjà touché plus d'un million de jeunes grâce à nos initiatives et nous nous efforçons d'avoir un impact encore plus important dans les années à venir.

Nous innovons continuellement et créons de nouvelles initiatives pour servir notre mission et engager les jeunes de manière à leur donner les moyens de devenir des citoyens engagés dans une ère numérique. Nous prenons nos engagements au sérieux et voulons nous assurer que nous respectons nos engagements envers toutes les parties prenantes, y compris les bailleurs de fonds, les partenaires et, surtout, les jeunes et les éducateurs.

Nous sommes actuellement à la recherche d'un(e) directeur(trice) du conseil d'administration pour nous aider à mettre en œuvre notre stratégie actuelle, à créer des stratégies innovantes pour atteindre nos objectifs d'impact et notre théorie du changement. Nous recherchons une personne capable d'apporter une vision, des conseils, une gouvernance et un soutien à l'organisation dans sa réussite croissante.

Avec l'intérêt croissant et l'émergence de l'intelligence artificielle, de la cybersécurité et de l'utilisation éthique des technologies, Moment numérique se trouve à une étape charnière de sa croissance. Vous pouvez contribuer à faire une réelle différence pour les jeunes Canadiens et à créer l'accès et l'équité aux outils nécessaires pour avoir un avenir brillant.

Les conditions d'adhésion au conseil d'administration sont les suivantes:

  • Engagement en termes de temps, de présence aux réunions et d'action pour soutenir le travail de Moment numérique (~ 2 heures par mois) ;
  • Passion pour le travail de Moment numérique ;
  • Volonté d'écouter les points de vue des autres, de défendre le sien, d'identifier les intérêts communs et les alternatives, et de prendre des mesures si nécessaire ;
  • Connaissances et compétences dans un ou plusieurs domaines nécessaires : culture numérique, compétences technologiques (IA, cybersécurité, etc.), stratégie de volontariat, données d'impact et narration ;
  • Engagement de temps pour la préparation et la participation aux réunions du Conseil d'administration, ainsi que pour représenter Moment numérique lors d'événements spéciaux et dans la communauté (principalement à Montréal) ;
  • Soutenir Moment numérique dans la participation et la promotion d'événements de collecte de fonds, faire des présentations du PDG de Moment numérique dans l'espoir que cela mène à un partenariat important ou à une opportunité de financement ;
  • Volonté de contribuer au travail du conseil d'administration en tant que membre d'un comité du conseil ou en contribuant à d'autres aspects du travail de l'organisation ;
  • Adhérer à la pleine participation et à la compréhension des engagements de l'organisation en matière de diversité, d'équité et d'inclusion ;
  • Expérience de la gouvernance d'un conseil d'administration.

Le ou la candidat(e) idéal a déjà fait partie d'un conseil d'administration et a été impliqué dans le processus de gouvernance du conseil. Il dispose d'une expérience et d'un réseau étendu dans le domaine de la technologie. Il dispose d'une expérience et d'un réseau étendu dans le domaine de l'éducation. Il a une bonne connaissance des relations avec les gouvernements et les ministres et pourrait nous mettre en contact avec des opportunités potentielles.
