Canada Sardine Full time

Who we are:

We are a leader in fraud prevention and AML compliance. Our platform uses device intelligence, behavior biometrics, machine learning, and AI to stop fraud before it happens. We have raised $75M from world-class investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Visa, Experian, FIS, and Google Ventures.

Our culture:

  • We have hubs in the Bay Area, NYC, Austin, and Toronto. However, we have a remote-first work culture. #WorkFromAnywhere

  • We hire talented, self-motivated people and get out of their way

  • We value performance and not hours worked. We believe you shouldn't have to miss your family dinner, your kid's school play, or doctor's appointments for the sake of adhering to an arbitrary work schedule.

Location:

  • Remote - Canada or United States

  • From Home / Beach / Mountain / Cafe / Anywhere

  • We are a remote-first company with a globally distributed team. You can find your productive zone and work from there.

About the role:

Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the development of robust machine-learning infrastructure and feature engineering capabilities.

You will:

  • Take ownership of strategic initiatives, translating high-level objectives into actionable machine learning solutions.

  • Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and algorithms, integrating them into the overall system.

  • Enhance backend systems for feature processing and model serving, optimizing efficiency and reliability.

  • Mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment.

  • Engage with large-scale data sets and data pipelines to extract meaningful insights.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to identify challenges and enhance machine learning models.

  • Establish ML observability to ensure models perform reliably in production.

  • Build scalable machine learning infrastructure using tools like Vertex AI, Apache Beam, and Kubeflow.

  • Develop systems and libraries to streamline integration.

  • Conduct experiments and assess model performance to optimize outcomes.

An ideal candidate has:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Machine Learning or related roles.

  • Significant experience in Fraud, Risk, Compliance, Payments, or FinTech domains is highly desirable.

  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with full-stack development, contributing from backend to frontend.

  • A degree in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or a related field.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-quality results.

  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with backend development experience.

  • Experience with data warehousing, ETL tools, and managing the machine learning lifecycle.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure, and with Kubernetes or Docker.

  • A proven track record of collaboration with data scientists to build, deploy, and refine models.

Benefits we offer:

  • Generous compensation in cash and equity

  • 7-years for post-termination option exercise (vs. standard 90 days)
