Reporting to the Director of Municipal Support, this position is responsible for managing all aspects of the financial and administrative practices of local governments in the Western/Labrador region. The role includes coordinating and supervising staff assignments to ensure acceptable local government operational practices are maintained. The incumbent will monitor local government compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, and program guidelines administered by the department by reviewing reports and supporting documentation and initiating corrective measures where necessary. The position also provides regional support to municipalities on matters related to legislative interpretation, by‑laws, code of conduct, taxation, budgeting, and other aspects of administration and finance. Travel is required to support municipalities and, on occasion, the Regional Manager or staff within the region may be required to act as an Administrator, Comptroller, and/or an Election Official. This position also supports public speaking engagements, stakeholder sessions, and training on municipal issues, including conflict of interest, budgeting, and councilor orientation.
