The Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre (RMCDC) is currently seeking a permanent part-time (0.8 FTE) Director of Key Worker Services for our Family Connections Program. RMCDC is a community-based agency providing early intervention services to children, youth, and their families in the communities of Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Katzie First Nation. Our Key Workers work as part of an interdisciplinary team, following a community-based, family-centered model, and collaborate with both our RMCDC-based therapists as well as providers from various community agencies. We provide service in a variety of environments, including family homes, various community settings, and the Centre itself.

Reporting to the Executive Director and working from a framework of family-centered care, the Director of Key Worker Services works with families and caregivers who are parenting children 0-19 years of age that have been diagnosed with or are pending diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) or other Complex Developmental Behaviour Conditions (CDBC). The Director of Key Worker Services manages and supervises the Family Connections Department/Key Worker staff, functions as a member of the clinical leadership team, and participates in Centre-wide initiatives designed to maintain or improve the quality of services to children with complex behavioral needs and their families.

The Director of Key Worker services also provides frontline Key Worker services, assisting families in understanding FASD and other complex developmental behavioral conditions through the provision of education and information specific to the needs of the child and family, related training, and emotional and practical supports. Key Workers assist families in accessing community-based supports, health, and education services, and act as a resource to community partners on FASD and CDBC. In addition, Key Workers facilitate caregiver support groups; one for families of elementary-aged children (6-12 years) with diagnoses of ADHD, the second for families raising children with FASD and related conditions. The Director of Key Worker services works flexible hours, which may include some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized College or University with Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or a related human service field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years related, relevant experience working directly with families with children with FASD, ADHD, CDBC and/or related behaviour issues, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Well-established knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development as well as of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and other complex developmental, behavioral conditions.
  • Valid Class V driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for business purposes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Trauma-Informed Practice and cultural safety.
  • Familiarity with the “wraparound” philosophy and process as well as family-centered care.
  • Experience working with individuals with a variety of abilities and their families.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.
  • Ability to form and maintain positive, effective working relationships with families, colleagues and community partners.
  • Strong administrative skills, including but not limited to the ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate tasks and workload; multi-task effectively; manage time effectively; and implement strategies to ensure service effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with community resources and means of access to those resources.
  • Experience with group facilitation and adult teaching.
  • Current and valid Level One First Aid Certificate.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $43.87-$54.79 per hour
