We have an exciting opportunity for a Propulsion Engineerto join the team withTeammate Company, Bastion Technologies, Inc.

The Propulsion Engineer will:

  • Reports to the senior level propulsion engineer, and interacts directly to the program/project on all impacted safety issues and concerns and On-Board Propulsion Systems, possiblyincluding International Partners
  • Reviews VV products and NASA defined requirements to verify requirement compliance and general propulsion system efficiency and effectivity.
  • Knowledge in component and system certification and the impacts of component design and operating environment on certification
  • Liaison for flight Anomaly Resolution review and In-Flight Investigation review, capable of solving propulsion questions with low levels of information.
  • Organizes, reviews, and Attends VV presentations for Propulsion Subsystem related items
  • Attends project/programboard level meetings when Propulsion Subsystem specific topics will be presented
  • Organizes and Leads VV coordination meetings as needed
  • Knowledge in the design and development of major elements of ground test and space flight systems required to demonstrate the utilization of propulsion and fluid systems
  • Writes technical and progress reports covering assigned tasks which are made available to other technical groups and agencies
  • Plans, coordinates, manages, evaluates, and reports onVV analyses studies and tests of components and systems
  • Resolves unique or novel problems, conditions, and issues as related to Propulsion Subsystems
  • Perform other duties as required

Requisition Qualifications:

This position has been posted at multiple levels.Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering in the field or in a related area.
  • Minimum 3years of spacecraft propulsion experience.
  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, testing, and office software.
    Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.
  • Confident in knowledge and experience, and able to discuss propulsion topics with subject matter experts.

Requisition Preferences:

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and possess 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience in the design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of space propulsion systems and components.
  • Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
    Experience coordinating space propulsion systems requirements
    Verification and validation between multiple organizations.
  • Familiarity with the NASA JSC Engineering Life Cycle process.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
