Who Are We Looking For?

Our Greater Toronto Area offices - including our office locations in Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, and Whitby, are looking to fill a Geological Environmental Field Technician position in our growing Canadian Operations. In an ever-changing world, it requires creativity and innovation to stay ahead. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversight of drilling investigations involving geotechnical, hydrogeological, and environmental components.
  2. Coordination and review of utility locates and utility drawings.
  3. Interpret engineering drawings/plans and reports and layout locations in the field.
  4. Logging of soil and rock.
  5. Surveying.
  6. Completion of SPT and Shelby tube sampling, as well as in-situ vane shear tests.
  7. Collection of soil samples for environmental and geotechnical testing.
  8. Liaise with subcontractors, client representatives, and/or agencies, as required.
  9. Training staff in field methods and sampling techniques.
  10. Working with and providing support to other members of the group in assisting with other field, laboratory, and office activities as required.

May also be involved with well development, groundwater sampling, soil gas sampling, and/or single well response testing and construction/remediation activities. Completion of clear, neat, and accurate field notes. May also be involved with the preparation of data tables, stratigraphic logs, scopes of work, health and safety plans.

Requirements:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • College Diploma in an Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician program
  • Valid First Aid/AED Training certification
  • Requires travel, projects mainly in GTA/Greater Golden Horseshoe area with the possibility for travel to Northern and Eastern Ontario (25%)
  • Estimated 95% of time outside the office in the field
Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical and hydrogeology field testing
  • General experience with MS Office software (Excel, Word, Teams)
  • Working knowledge of relevant Acts & Regulations and Ontario Regulations
  • Experience as an MOL Supervisor
  • Must own a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license
  • Adaptable, analytical, and willing to ask questions
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to meet challenging deadlines
  • Previous infrastructure project experience considered an asset
