SOCIAL STUDIES AND ELL TEACHER

Part-time (0.8571 FTE) Term position

West Vancouver Secondary School

Effective September 3, 2024 until June 30, 2025

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $50,000 to $104,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

Required Qualifications and Experience

A part-time (0.8571 FTE) Social Studies 8/9/10, and ELL Social Studies position is available. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching Social Studies
  • Post-secondary coursework and/or ELL instructional certification considered an asset
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Proficiency Scales for assessment
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Core Competencies, Big Ideas, and Learning Standards for the appropriate curricular area
  • Hold a valid BC Teaching certificate
  • Commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology with the curriculum.
  • An ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies that can accommodate the learning needs of all types of learners.
  • A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting.
