Minimum qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. 8 years of experience reading code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript) or in system design.
  3. 8 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).
  4. Experience in networking technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, Routing, IP/Subnet troubleshooting, VPN, VLAN, Peering, Load-Balancing, Firewall, DHCP, ICMP, NAT, CDN, DNS, etc.).
Preferred qualifications:
  1. CCNP, CCIE, CKA, RHCE or equivalent certifications.
  2. Experience implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices.
  3. Experience using techniques such as packet-capture/packet-analysis, load testing, and traffic-path analysis to troubleshoot network-latency, packet-loss and performance issues.
  4. Experience with one or more of the following cloud solutions: Open source software communities, Cloud networking solutions, distributed-computing technology, Hybrid/Multi Cloud connectivity, etc.
  5. Knowledge of fundamental web technologies: HTTP/HTTPS, etc.
  6. Knowledge of virtual/container networking.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the customer’s problems through effective diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
  2. Develop knowledge of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis.
  3. Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in developer, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
  4. Understand customer issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams including product and developer teams to find ways to improve the product, and drive high-quality production.
  5. Work as part of a team of Developer/Consultants that globally ensure 24 hour customer support. This will include a need to sometimes work non-standard work hours or shifts.
