About the Role Identity Engineering owns the systems responsible for onboarding all consumers and managing their authentication and verification journeys across our product surfaces. In this role, you will need to gain a deep understanding of the business, product, and engineering context, and utilize that context to own and deliver high‑availability and low‑latency systems on the critical paths for all of our products. Responsibilities Collaborate with your tech lead and manager to break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and ensure timely delivery. Support peers and stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics; articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade‑offs. Maintain operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” and on‑call efforts. Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities, including participating in the interview process. Qualifications 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer. Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems, and proficiency in either Python or Kotlin. Familiarity with the building blocks of distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. Ability to translate a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and to execute on it by writing clear, well‑tested, and extensible code. Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others’ code, and providing constructive code‑review feedback. Initiative in taking ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills to support effective collaboration with our global engineering team. Either a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
