We are a specialty meat manufacturer spanning six sites in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.Job DescriptionThe position of Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the site inclusive of production manufacturing, maintenance, warehousing, transportation fleet management and export processing ensuring the adherence to applicable policies and procedures. The incumbent will develop and adhere to defined processes that maximize stewardship, team development, safety, quality and productivity. This role will be a member of the operations leadership team and must adhere to the values of the organization when making decisions and solving problems. As a senior leader in the organization, the plant manager must encourage employee follow-ship and be an example of the culture that defines Donald’s Fine Foods. Our customers are at the core of all we do and the plant manager must exhibit a propensity to meet customer expectation without compromising safety, quality, compliance requirements, and unnecessary waste.Critical ObjectivesLead and engage all site employees and management team to fulfill company goalsDevelop business plans consistent with company strategyAssure effective costs without compromising safety, quality, and serviceMaintain a strong customer service relationship with customersEngage and effectively manage union, supplier, and contractor relationshipsUphold company policies, procedures, and all food safety requirementEnsure safety of all personnel in facilityMaintain facility infrastructure standards consistent with company imageResponsiveness to customer fulfillment and satisfactionFood safety programs complianceResponsibilitiesSafety· Provide and maintain a safe working environment for all employees and contractors· Compliance with all WorkSafe and Occupational Health and Safety regulations· Guide team towards achieving zero lost time and medical aid incidentsFood Safety· Enforce HACCP/CFIA and food safety regulations· Collaborate CFIA officials to promote cooperative working relations· Ensure sanitation department is keeping the site ready for operation· Lead team always being audit ready for BRC, Customers or SuppliersLeadership· Exemplify honesty, integrity, quality and trust· Develop a robust employee and team development and succession plans· Maintain engaged employee relations· Ensure all daily, weekly and monthly site communication forums are conducted routinely and effectively· Ensure performance management reviews are timely and constructiveProduction Execution· Oversee execution of all manufacturing, warehousing, DSD, maintenance, processes· Maintain a cost-effective manpower plan· Manage annual site costs to lower than inflation· Validate execution of all routine, preventative and predictive maintenance tasks· Fulfill production orders on-time and in full· Ensure yields are managed while not affecting product qualityQuality· Provide necessary feedback and direction to primary processing team to ensure customer satisfaction by shipping to appropriate specifications· Ensure product specifications are current and strictly enforcedContinuous Improvement· Support 5s facility· Reduce four waste streams – Time; Capital; Process; Inventory· Leverage Root Cause Analysis/Process Analytics/Lean Problem Solving· Establish and manage a culture of continuous improvement through KPIsInnovationFacilitate the innovation process, from concept to commercializationBenchmark industry best practices, processing trends, and equipment· Increase plant capabilities to match sales strategy· Ensure proper documentation of new product innovationCost· Continuously reengineer processes without impacting quality and safety· Manage capital spend to on-time, on budget, and defined benefits criteriaCustomer· Participate as needed in quarterly customer reviews· Liaise with customer representatives· Support sales growthCritical KPIs· Cost-$/kg· Customer complaints, claims, cost and satisfaction· CFIA/HACCP/BRC Audits· Turnover/Absenteeism· Downtime· Waste Reduction/Yield Improvement· Union Relations· Warehouse Utility· Cases/Man-hour· Truck & Trailer Utilization· Total Delivered Cost· Inventory Accuracy· Order FulfillmentPosition Requirements15+ years managerial/leadership experience as a logistics/manufacturing site managerKnowledge of and competent in business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertiseKnowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processesWorking knowledge of office and business IS systemsAbility to create accountability and to lead by exampleStrong team building, decision-making and people management skillsDegree in Business Management; Food Science; Engineering or related fieldLegally eligible to work in CanadaPosition SkillsEffective Communication SkillsCollaborative Leadership and Interpersonal SkillsCritical-Thinking SkillsOrganizational Planning SkillsAnalytical based Problem-Solving SkillsComputer/System literacy - Microsoft Office; Inventory/Planning/Scheduling Software
