What you’ll be doing

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and manage new model projects from all aspects of Body engineering in Toyota’s North American Body Manufacturing Shops.

Reporting to the Manager, the person in this role will support the Body Production Engineering department's objective to provide new model processes to the manufacturing facilities which meet all targets for Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost.

  • Develop C/M or direction proposals and distill critical decision points to evaluate only necessary judgment criteria, ensures criteria aligns with strategic goals of the project / organization, and leading communication with correct stakeholders.

  • Coaching JL14/15 members to develop priorities and targets related to organizational goals and in line with Toyota Way thinking.

  • Work result demonstrates effective linkage of schedule and priority.

  • Will predict area level barriers and avoid negative project impact through seeking additional support and appropriate communication / reporting.

  • Driving results of others to sustainably achieve project milestones with clear communication.

  • Determines method to yokoten organizational best practices to within organization.

  • Meet project milestones with large scope and drive team to achieve project milestones.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering or Equivalent Technical Degree, or Trade Certificate combined with 10+ years of relevant professional manufacturing/technical/project implementation experience.

  • 2+ years of Body PE Experience TMNA and/or NAMC such as Body Pilot, special projects planning, specification creation, and installation including TM, CW, or co-op.

  • 2+ years of Project management skills including scheduling, budgeting, coordinating, problem solving, and reporting

  • 2+ years of Automation experience including specification, tooling/jig design, equipment procurement, and installation

  • 3+ years of CAROTT 3 / Delmia / Catia or other 3D CAD software experience, including the ability to read, interpret and modify 3D models and processes.

  • Ability to work weekends, holiday periods, shutdown periods and across multiple shifts to support tooling modifications, installation projects, and project urgencies.

  • Ability to work overtime up to 30%.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% to support work at machine vendors, Toyota locations in North America [US, Canada, Mexico), other manufacturing locations and Japan.

  • Direct working experience in a Toyota PE position outside of Body PE

  • Automotive manufacturing experience outside of Toyota

  • Experience with 2 or more Body PE functions (SE, Quality, Seibi, Carott, Robot Team, Innovation group) – Direct assignment for 6 months or more

  • Carott 3 experience

  • Completion of an ICT to TMC

  • TBP Completion through panel
