Job Objectives:

Tornado is dedicated to innovation, competence, and efficiency, leading ultimately to high levels of product quality and customer satisfaction.  The Purchaser is a key member of the Supply Chain Team, responsible for the procurement of parts and materials. Working with designers, builders, and finance, they develop and implement reliable supply relationships, which ensure the manufacturing operation is consistently supplied. This ensures the on-time delivery of quality units that meet our customers’ high expectations.

Relationships:

Reports to: Senior Purchaser, Manager – Supply Chain
Supervises: None
Internal Contacts: Management, Materials, QA, Production Supervisors, Engineering, Finance
External Contacts: Suppliers, Transport

Key Responsibility Areas:

Purchasing
Procure parts, materials, and services in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Develop, implement, and create RFQ’s in accordance with procurement policy.
Prepare purchase orders with qualified suppliers, for equipment, parts, materials, and services.
Work collaboratively with the Procurement team on purchasing initiatives.
Ensure the procurement process is being followed and maintain the integrity of all purchasing transactions.

Other Responsibilities
Master the use of EPICOR and other digital tools as required.
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
Undertake other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education
Diploma or bachelor's degree: Logistics/Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.

Experience
Experience in a manufacturing operation is required.
One year or more of experience in a purchasing role in a manufacturing environment.
Previous exposure to supply chain management and procurement processes.

Competencies (skills, abilities, knowledge):
Computer Skills
Functions at an intermediate level in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint is preferred.
Hands-on experience with EPICOR preferred; familiarity with another ERP would be an asset.

Working Conditions:
Most daily work will be in the office, using digital resources.
Awareness and attention to ergonomics will be required and assistance will be provided.
Time spent in the manufacturing area will require use of Personal Protective Equipment.  CSA-certified safety footwear is required; all other PPE will be provided.
