The Production, Revenue, Royalty Accountant will complete all production and revenue accounting responsibilities for PetroChina Canada’s Oil Sands asset and non-operated BC Gas Joint Venture. This position will also have responsibility for managing all monthly royalty related matters.

Accountabilities:

The accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage production and revenue accounting for PCC’s operated Alberta SAGD oilsands facility:
    • Complete monthly volume confirmation, splits, Petrinex reporting and revenue bookings
    • Work with operations and engineering teams to understand and accurately report the production volumes
    • Maintain strong working relationship with the regulatory team and support the TIER and EPAP submission
  • Complete revenue accounting for non-operated BC gas facility
  • Manage royalty accounting requirements:
    • Manage Alberta Oil Sands royalty accounting, including booking royalty invoices and calculating and filing all relevant royalty forms with the Department of Energy, including the Monthly Royalty Calculation (MRC) and CARE reporting
    • Book crown royalty invoices for the Duvernay asset (Alberta)
    • Complete BC royalty accounting, including calculating and filing the Pdata and NGL valuation submissions and booking of royalty invoices
    • Manage payment requests for all of PCC’s crown royalty invoices
  • Manage marketing accounting requirements for operated and non-operated assets:
    • Book cash received marketing statements
    • Complete pipeline balancing and inventory valuations
    • Calculate oil/gas/NGL netbacks
    • Maintain strong working relationship with Marketing team to ensure proper accounting for commodity transactions and transportation agreements
  • Prepare monthly revenue, royalty, and transportation accruals for the AB oilsands, non-op BC gas, and Saskatchewan oil assets
  • Complete month end variance analysis reviewing revenue, royalties and transportation for Oil Sands and non-operated gas facility
  • Work with treasury accounting to reconcile cash receipts
  • Support joint venture accounting:
    • Manage approvals and bookings of EnergyLink JIBs with revenue/fees related to our operated assets
    • Payment requests for these JIBs
  • Complete weekly/monthly management volume reporting and other ad hoc management reporting as required
  • Communicate with and support the production accounting team as required

Qualifications:     

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or related field
  • CAPPA certification required
  • Minimum of 5 years of Production Accounting & Royalty experience with a preference for SAGD experience
  • Experience with SAP, Petrinex, EnergyLink, Petrotranz
  • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables
  • Knowledge of Alberta and BC Royalty Regulations would be considered an asset
  • Marketing Accounting experience would be considered an asset
  • Adoption and demonstration of PetroChina Canada Values (Honorable, Unified, Passionate, Accountable)
