The Ground Hand role is a great opportunity to enter the Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications industry and learn a skilled trade. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate of a Powerline Technician program who is looking to obtain industry experience.

The wage range for this opportunity is between $18-24/hour and based on any prior experience.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  1. Assist lineman in the construction of fiber optic and coaxial plant including new build and repair/replacement of active plant.
  2. Maintain minimum benchmarks on client and company performance metrics.
  3. Carry out all work performed in the safest possible manner, following all internal safety guidelines and requirements.
  4. Maintain all assigned assets such as test meter, safety equipment, ladders, etc.
  5. Manage, track, and organize client equipment and small parts. Must be able to account for the usage of all equipment.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized company vehicle. Ensure all routine maintenance is completed timely and any problems with the vehicle are immediately reported to local management.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  1. Holds at least a valid Class 5 license. Class 3 license is preferred.
  2. Graduated from a Powerline Technician (PLT) program is a definite asset.
  3. Experience working around heavy equipment and trucks is an asset.
  4. Ability to use hand tools and work at heights.
  5. Able to lift to 80 lbs.
  6. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  7. Ability to take directions and adequately follow instructions as given.
  8. Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team.
  9. Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements.
  10. Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver’s abstract.
  11. Must have Valid First Aid Level C or be able to obtain before starting employment.
