POSITION SCOPE

The Maintenance Technologist will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Technologist is required to perform various tasks involvedwith the electrical and control requirements of plant operations. Other tasks will be required to maintainsanitation and operational standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engages in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair, of plant electrical distribution systems, PLC (programmable logical controls) systems, control circuits, and electrical sub-systems.
  • Follow written and verbal PLC and control system standards. Ensure change management protocols are followed and documented.
  • Receives and interprets maintenance work orders. Ascertains appropriate tools and equipment required to complete the repair. Completes said repair, and the paperwork associated with closing the work order.
  • Design, install and maintain electrical control systems and industrial automation systems.
  • Review electrical engineering plans to ensure adherence to design specifications and compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Operates a large diversity of hand and power tools associated with the repair of electrical systems. This would include pliers, strippers, amp meters, volt meters, meggers, screw drivers, open end and adjustable wrenches, punches, hammers, drills, chisels, taps, dies, and files.
    Safe use of rigging and lifting equipment.
  • Safe operation when using scaffolding, or working from elevated work platforms
  • Completes small, in-house, turnkey design/build projects with an eye to improving plant efficiencies and safety.
  • Completes formal, assigned, preventative maintenance tasks on various pieces of electrical equipment.
  • Other related duties as required.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate ability to work well within a team setting.
  • PLC/HMI experience considered an asset
  • Demonstrate good to excellent skills in Microsoft Office software.
  • Instrumentation and controls experience considered an asset
  • Current industry related safety tickets considered an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work alone or in a group
  • Positive attitude and self-starter

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Technologist Diploma in a related field such as Electrical Engineering or Industrial Instrumentation with and a few years’ experience OR a related Trade Certificate with demonstrated related work experience.
  • PLC/HMI experience an asset
  • Industrial experience an asset.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Travelon foot is required throughout the 5 acre plant site, in order to access alloperating malt houses, elevators, and parts storage areas. Once inside anoperating building the worker is required to access multiple levels usingstairs, elevators, and ladders. Work will be a combination of indoor andoutdoor environments. Work must be performed in all weather conditions, dusty,wet and other conditions.

    Working conditions in various areas of theplant may expose the worker to mild levels of sulfur dioxide, sodiumhypochlorite, mild levels of H2S and dust. Personal protective equipment mustbe worn during such exposures to mitigate these risks.

COMPENSATION
We offer an hourly rate of $43.05 and a generous benefits package including extended healthcare, EAP, paid holidays, paid time off program, basic & voluntary life insurance, STD, LTD, pension plan (CAD) and tuition reimbursement. Employees are eligible for product discounts through our CMG Division, as well as discounts from various external vendors.
