Tree Global develops, finances and implements the highest quality ecosystem restoration projects in the world. Role & responsibilities

  • Provides overall leadership and guidance on Congo Basin forestry restoration technical and scientific principles and practices
  • Develops, leads, and manages a robust species-site selection process
  • Develops and leads best operating practices for all forestry restoration operations
  • Develops, leads, and manages the forestry information management system, including an effective forest inventory and permanent sample plot programme
  • Together with the Global R&D director designs, implements and manages a robust forest restoration R&D programme including from seed to forest maintenance and protection
  • Supports the development of in country relationships with influential organizations and individuals including government, international organizations & private sector entities with specific emphasis on those that impact the project


Experience

  • Minimum 12+ years Congo basin related forestry/forest restoration experience
  • Proven related leadership roles in Congo Basin forestry/forest restoration – in roles such as a R&D director, senior/chief researcher, forest restoration expert
  • Thought leader in Congo Basin forestry/forest restoration practices
  • Has an applied science backed by financial logic approach
  • Used to working in isolated and difficult work environments
  • Highly proficient in use of computers, in particular use of email, Microsoft Excel and Word


Education

  • Formal qualification (3+ years) in forestry
  • A PhD or Masters with Congo Basin forestry as a major/specialty
  • A post graduate business/management qualification would be desirable
  • Must be able to work in English with native and non-native English speakers
  • Fluency in French is essential
