About the Role

The Director, Operations & Administration will provide strategic direction and operational management oversight to support development of operational strategy and framework, enabling the delivery of SFU International's vision, mission, priorities and objectives. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Director is responsible for identifying, securing and mobilizing core resources to ensure the success of the unit, including HR management, financial management, and systems management. The Director is responsible for driving solutions-driven results through the design, monitoring and reporting of operational frameworks and evaluation processes, ensuring successful outcomes for SFU International. The Director oversees business risks related to technology-enabled solutions which can be measured and reported on. The Director generates the department's operating budget; performs financial analyses; identifies and monitors performance indicators; and designs operational models to support decision-making. The Director plays a pivotal role in providing operational leadership, oversight and control to effectively support the long-term sustainability of SFU International.

The successful candidate should be proficient in preparing budgets, monitoring revenue and expenses, and participating collaboratively with Directors to make strategic decisions to keep initiatives within budget and on target to achieve annual and long-term goals and objectives; managing the annual and multi-annual financial planning process; and in providing guidance in the development, analysis, and projection of expenses; and identifying areas where financial integrity, accuracy, and/or timeliness standards are not being met.

Full Job Description

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related discipline and five years of related management experience in a complex environment including financial administration, personnel management, as well as international relations, strategic planning, and/or policy analysis, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Possesses excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills and decision-making skills; team leadership, supervisory, and mentorship skills; financial administration and personnel management skills.
  • Possesses verbal communication and interpersonal skills to provide information, advice and recommendations to an executive level audience; and written communication skills to produce business plans, reports, and briefing for senior management.
