PROJECT ENGINEER - CONSTRUCTION (JUNIOR / INTERMEDIATE)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assist in the development of cost estimates
  2. Review plans, designs, bidding documents, and other technical documents
  3. Evaluate contractor bids
  4. Answer questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project
  5. Monitor costs and project progress
  6. Maintain control of all project documentation
  7. Create, manage and track RFI’s from the field to the architect/engineer of record
  8. Maintain and update project records
  9. Assist the project manager/superintendent in creating and distributing the project plan and schedule, as well as overseeing the construction progress and scheduling
  10. Assist project team with conflict resolution between owner, contractor, and subcontractor
  11. Turn in submittals from subcontractors to Owner’s representative for approval
  12. Coordinate project change-order management, creation, and negotiation
  13. Conduct and document weekly project owner’s meetings and decisions
  14. Provide technical support to construction staff under the supervision of the Project Manager
  15. Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination
  16. Assist the project team with closeout of the project
  17. Assist project accountant with monthly subcontractor billings and pay applications
  18. Assist project manager with assigned tasks
  19. Perform other related functions as required by Management
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • 5+ years of experience working as project engineer in an office or field role
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical, or electrical engineering or related field of study
  • Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and other applicable software programs
  • Construction experience a plus but not required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks independently
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities while taking full ownership of their work
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates success in maintaining composure and effectiveness in the face of competing and complex demands
  • Professional and polished
  • Demonstrates flexibility and is adaptable to change
  • General knowledge of office protocol, routines, and procedures
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Able to accomplish tasks without direct oversight
WORKING CONDITIONS

Full-time permanent position

Primary location of work in Saskatoon Office, Saskatchewan

Travel to various DCM office/sites across Western Canada will be required as needed

Various Rotations (Shift Cycle is subject to change)

Ability to lift and carry objects independently or as a team

Ability to meet and maintain site access requirements
