A Snapshot of Your Day

The Manufacturing Engineer will maintain knowledge of the manufacturing processes used by Siemens Energy for the selection and deployment of methods that meet engineering requirements. As part of the Technical Services Engineering team in Montreal, his responsibilities extend to all aeroderivative gas turbine products: SGT-A65, SGT-A45, SGT-A35, and power turbines. He ensures that product integrity is maintained by completing process qualification. He also makes improvements to manufacturing processes to reduce costs while maintaining a high level of quality.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Working with a multi-functional team structured as a value chain, the Manufacturing Engineer is involved in all phases of the repair and maintenance process, in product assembly, and in the introduction of new products. The candidate's main responsibilities include:

  1. Define and qualify methods for machining processes, including tooling requirements, cutting parameters, and CNC programming.
  2. Prepare and offer innovative manufacturing solutions to reduce manufacturing or repair costs, while maintaining a high level of product quality: stable and predictable processes.
  3. Complete cost-benefit analyses to justify the acquisition of equipment and tooling, and present solutions to the management team.
  4. Provide technical support to repair engineers in defining component repair methods.
  5. Actively participate in the development of solutions to remedy various problems: quality, health and safety, or to optimize work methods.
  6. Create and maintain the elements of the technical file that define the process in accordance with quality requirements.
  7. Develop capabilities, including people, processes, technology, and tools, to meet current and future business requirements, in line with overall strategy.
  8. In collaboration with colleagues, prioritize and solve day-to-day problems related to assembly and disassembly methods, tooling, inspection methods, specialized equipment, and engine testing.
What You Bring

Mechanical or aerospace engineering degree, OIQ member required. At least 5 years' relevant technical experience. Knowledge of gas turbines, project management, and assembly techniques. Mastery of CAD/CAM tools, including NX, concerning the modeling function, assembly, manufacturing function, machine simulation, use of Windows libraries, and Post Builder. Expertise in numerically controlled machines and part probing activities. Good knowledge of geometric and dimensional tolerancing. High degree of autonomy and ability to manage priorities within team objectives to meet customer expectations. Flexibility in work schedules, as support may be required for second shift operations. Effective communicator with peers and different levels of management. Ability to evolve and work in a unionized environment. Ability to read, speak, write, understand, and verbally express ideas and instructions in French. A basic understanding of English is complimentary to read engineering reports, specifications, component drawings, and assembly drawings.
