Client Profile

Our client, a reputable Toronto firm is currently looking for a Trademark Clerk. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist trademark lawyers with the prosecution of Canadian and foreign trademark files;
  • Prepare and perform initial review of conflict searches before professional approval
  • Prepare retainer letters;
  • Communicate directly with clients and foreign agents regarding routine prosecution matters;
  • Prepare status reports and assist professionals with ad hoc projects;
  • Preparing and filing assignments, title documents and change of address information with CIPO;
  • Monitoring and responding to deadlines and other time sensitive matters;
  • Assist IP team as required; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 5-10+ year’s relevant patent and trademark experience;
  • Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma/Certificate;
  • Experience in Trademark prosecution;
  • Strong working knowledge of legal software and standard software (PATTSY, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures and statutes, and;
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
