Job Description

Mission: Our Energy team specialized in hydropower facilities and dams is looking for an Engineer with specific expertise in civil/structural engineering, as well as in the reconstruction of hydraulic structures and hydroelectric power plants, primarily with our client Hydro-Québec. This person can be based anywhere in the province of Quebec and work in a hybrid setting, preferably in the Greater Montreal Area.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out various studies, including feasibility studies
  2. Participate in meetings with stakeholders from various internal and external disciplines
  3. Monitor project costs and schedules
  4. Carry out preliminary and detailed design for special projects, including structural work
  5. Make recommendations regarding the appropriate specifications for various structures
  6. Help in the preparation of drawings and specifications based on clients’ requirements for proposal purposes
  7. Monitor technical problems and find solutions to ensure high-quality and timely delivery
  8. Prepare technical documents for bidding purposes
  9. Provide clients with explanations on selected design solutions and technical decisions
  10. Carry out cursory and detailed inspections of various structures such as dams, spillways, water intakes, penstocks and other structures associated with hydropower production
Qualifications:

University Degree: Civil Engineering, with civil/structural engineering experience in the hydropower/hydroelectric and dam sector
Additional Qualifications: Master’s Degree or specific experience in civil/structural engineering (an asset)
Membership: Member of l'Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
Experience: More than five (5) years of experience in structural design (primarily concrete and steel structures)
Knowledge: Practical knowledge of Hydro-Québec’s management standards and practices
Skills: Experience in multidisciplinary technical coordination and project management
Qualities: Autonomy, sense of initiative, and ability to work as part of a team
Languages: Fluency in oral and written French, Proficiency in oral and written English in a professional context to ensure adequate communication on certain projects nationwide
