The University of Ottawa is recognized nationally and internationally as one of the best universities in Canada. It is the largest bilingual university (French-English) in the world. Located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, it contributes significantly to the economy, culture, and quality of life of Canada’s capital.

The University of Ottawa has over 10,000 employees. Over 45,000 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in one of our 10 faculties.

The University is looking for a recognized leader in human resources with strong, broad experience as a senior executive in large, unionized organizations, in both the public and private sectors. Reporting to the vice-president, finance and administration, the associate vice-president, human resources, should be known for achievements in labour relations, talent management, compensation and benefits, as well as change management. Teamwork and collective decision-making should be key elements in the AVP’s success.

Applicants must have over 20 years’ experience as a senior human resources manager and demonstrate a strong ability to develop and implement innovative strategies to achieve, and indeed surpass, expected results.

Applicants must have proven experience in managing large-scale organizational transformations in partnership with senior executives and the main social partners.

Applicants must have strong communication and interpersonal skills that allow them to function easily at all levels of the organization and must be able to mobilize colleagues, business partners, and own staff to achieve organizational objectives.

Applicants must have excellent critical thinking skills with a strong ability to manage conflict, as well as solid experience in implementing and managing HR enterprise resource planning (ERP).

Applicants must hold a graduate degree and an HR professional designation and communicate effectively in both English and French.

This very exciting position is meant for a talented person with experience in human resources management ready to leave their mark on a major institute of higher learning.
