Position: Brain Injury Support Worker
Salary: From $20.61 an hour

Location: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
About the RoleMarch of Dimes Canada are currently looking to fill a full-time (30 hours/week) Support Worker position in Brain Injury in Victoria BC.
This role’s intention is to support the maintenance of rehabilitation goals achieved by clients in the day program. In addition, provide support services of housekeeping and preparing meals and snacks to individuals at the day program.
Hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 2:30pm, 30 hours per week. Starting wage is $20.61 per hour.
Main Duties- Provides support to maintain client rehabilitation goals (set by Rehabilitation Worker) and offers assistance with housekeeping and snacks and meals
- Activities in which the Support Worker may be involved with require attention to the maintenance of health and safety requirements, especially regarding lifts/ transfers/ bending/ carrying and stretching, maintenance of “universal precautions” and careful use of household cleaning materials.
- Service is provided in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner which respects the client’s dignity and right to privacy.
- Reporting responsibilities including incident, behavioural & verbal reports
- Participates in any required training
- Follows policies and procedures as required
- Provides one to one support and group support within the day program and community to adults with a Brian Injury
- Engages clients in activities and rehabilitation planning
- Communicates with clients, family, and team members
- Post-Secondary preferred in Human and Social Services but minimum of Grade 12
- Proven consistency in work performance, including reliability and flexibility
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Sound behavioural management skills, cognitive problem-solving skills.
- Proven teamwork abilities
- Working knowledge of ABI and rehabilitation
- Ability to effectively provide support with behavioural situations
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
