Bluewater Group is seeking an Accountant to be part of our Finance team at our Head Office location in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

This role will work closely with Sales, Operations, and Inventory team as a key member of our Finance Team. In this position, you will be working with the lead financial accountants in one of our three main divisions (Lubricants, Supply Chains Logistics and Ships) as well as assisting with several stream-line improvement projects within the Finance Team. You will be responsible for completing month end processes and maintaining supporting schedules. We encourage cross-training to promote diversity and growth within the company.

Responsibilities

  1. Financial statement preparation
  2. Month end adjusting journal entries
  3. Daily reconciliation and accounting tasks
  4. Ensure all relevant financial information is entered into the GL on a timely basis
  5. Leadership and guidance to Billing, AP, and Sales
  6. Provide job and operating costing
  7. Budget preparation
  8. Providing reconciliations and supporting schedules, investigate variances
  9. Complete government remittance (Sales tax returns, EHC, Fuel tax)
  10. Communicate and work directly with manager on year end audit duties
  11. Liaise with auditors, government, and other stakeholders
  12. Preparing ad hoc analysis to the Finance and Operations managers

Requirements

  1. Possess a post-secondary education, specializing in accounting or commerce
  2. Possess or be on track to get an accounting designation (CPA)
  3. Possess a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a financial environment
  4. Be proficient in Excel, Crystal Reports, SAP, and Microsoft Office 365
  5. Have experience with cloud-based accounting
