We are in search of individuals with prior experience in child care and leadership roles, coupled with a solid understanding of child development and a commitment to nurturing positive relationships with both children and colleagues. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational prowess, and proficiency in computer skills. They should exhibit high levels of motivation, adaptability, and fluency in English, along with strong leadership abilities, multitasking capabilities, and extensive knowledge of child development principles. Professionalism is paramount, and familiarity with Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations is essential. Candidates must possess an Alberta Child Care Level 3 certification, as well as a current criminal record check (including a vulnerable sector search) and first aid certification, or be prepared to obtain these credentials upon employment.

This role is designed to evolve into a Director position as opportunities arise in the future. Therefore, prospective candidates must demonstrate readiness for this advancement and be prepared to assume the associated responsibilities, including the potential relocation to another center.

Key responsibilities of the position include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting in overseeing the programming, ensuring the implementation of our core program through observation and mentoring, and day to day operations of the programs.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety within the environment.
  • Providing tours to prospective families.
  • Answering phone calls and emails.
  • Ensuring resources and materials for planning and implementation.
  • Providing regular communication to parents through monthly newsletters and daily updates.
  • Cultivating positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Assisting the Program Directors and supporting the educators.
  • Periodically covering educator breaks.
  • Participating in professional development initiatives.
  • Adhering to Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations and Active Start's policies and procedures to ensure quality care.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.05-$34.62 per hour
