Position SummaryThe Assistant Project Manager supports the project teams on their assigned sites to establish the project scope and ensure the job is completed within budget and according to schedule. As a member of the SKYGRiD team, this individual focuses on investing time and effort in grooming up and coming leaders in the organization, providing mentoring, coaching and growth opportunities to help more junior employees realize their potentialKey Responsibilities:· Provide support to the Project Manager and team.· Enforce company and project policies, main client interface, and are responsible for project performance including: budget/costs, schedule, quality and overall project status.· Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts.· Co-ordinate, manage and communicate with all subcontractors and effectively deal with problems such as delivery, labor, schedule, and payment disputes.· Maintain excellent relationships with trade contractors, architects, consultants and our clients.· Assist with planning a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Superintendent.· Co-operate fully with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to get the project completed.· Process contract drawings and specifications and make ensure that the building is built in accordance with these documents.· Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for Owners, and ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings.· Monitor in conjunction with the Project Superintendent, a project’s material and labour costs and ensure accurate quality reporting is being conducted.· Can read, interpret, analyze, and forecast a project’s cost reports and determine the status of the job in terms of schedule and costing.· Be aware of unit costs and monitor and compare daily progress on site with that of the project’s estimate in conjunction with the Project Superintendent.· Conduct and efficiently manage project meetings weekly, bi-weekly or monthly as needed.· Assure compliance with project construction schedule budgets and assume responsibility for the commissioning of the project.· Ensure the implementation of SKYGRiD’s Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite.Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience: · Educational and experience requirements include a construction related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.· Minimum of 6 years’ construction experience.· Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on construction projects.· Foresight to predict problems before they develop.· Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents.· Ability to assume responsibility, interface and have superior communication and interpersonal skills essential.· Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives.· Proficiency in Office and Project Management software (e.g. MS Office/Project).Type: Permanent Full-TimeSalary: To Be DeterminedStart date: ASAPJob location: Hamilton, ONTraveling required: To SiteSKYGRiD is committed to building a diverse workforce representative of the communities we serve.
