Geomatics Analyst
Adecco is currently recruiting for a Geomatics Analyst for a 2-years On-site contract opportunity in Esquimalt, BC with possibility of extension. This role is with our Crown corporation client based in downtown Ottawa, ON. The successful candidate must hold a valid Secret Security Clearance.
Geomatics Analyst will have the following responsibilities.

  • Retrieve multi-beam survey data from CHS Bathymetric Database or Hydrographic Production Database.

  • Utilize additional data sources for non-Canadian waters to support operational needs.

  • Document survey sources for Chart Information and maintain product metadata.

  • Produce SM ENCs based on foundation data and direction provided by HSO Staff.

  • Generate SM ENCs using appropriate technologies, software, and workflows.

  • Conduct QA/QC procedures to ensure SM ENC products meet specified standards.

  • Test digital products using Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS).

  • Verify accuracy of objects, lines, and polygons according to product specifications.

  • Address and document any identified issues or errors, providing necessary explanations.

  • Update SM ENCs as required and issue new editions based on updated data or revisions.

  • Deliver finalized products to HSO upon completion of QA/QC processes.

  • Deliverables may include complete SM ENCs, QA/QC reports, monthly progress reports, product history reports, exception reports, and special reports.

  • Ensure all deliverables meet specified formats, such as S-57 exchange format for SM ENCs and PDF for documentation.

  • Provide certified reports as required for product history documentation.

Geomatics Analyst must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Must have a degree from an accredited University specializing in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, or Cartography; OR College Diploma in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS);

  • Completion of the marine cartographic module of the Multi-Disciplinary Hydrographer qualification with Canadian Hydrographic Services (CHS). Minimum of 1 year in the past 5 years in Generating Submarine Electronic Navigation Charts (SM ENCs) using CARIS software;

  • Minimum of 1 year in the past 5 years conducting Quality Assurance and Control (QA/QC) to confirm that SM ENCs or ENCs meet International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) specifications.

  • Minimum of 1 year in the past 5 years validating digital products such as SM ENCs or ENCs using Quality Assurance and Control (QA/QC) tools (IHO S-58 ENC Validation Checks).

  • Minimum of 1 year in the past 5 years correcting produced SM ENCs or ENCs for Notice to Mariners.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience using either CARIS HPD/HOM/DOM/Base Editor/S-57 Composer/Bathy database or ESRI ArcGIS Nautical Solution.

  • Minimum of 1 year within the last 3 years in utilizing Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) applications (Teledyne CARIS and ESRI Arc Pro) for producing nautical charts.

  • Minimum of 1 year working as a Geomatics Analyst.

  • Completion of the IHO approved S-8 recognized training module for digital charting.
