Registered Nurse

Position: This is a Bargaining Unit Contract Position (80 hours in a two-week period) position.

Purpose of the Position:

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Registered Nurse participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team, to provide treatment, rehabilitation, support and crisis intervention services for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness in the clients? environment of choice.

Qualifications:

• Current Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses
• Bachelor?s Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Additional training or qualifications in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
• Knowledge of the Assertive Community Treatment Team Model (ACTT) A minimum of 3-5 years experience with individuals with mental illness Demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience in:
• Psychosocial rehabilitation;
  • Conducting mental status examinations;
  • Assessing, managing and evaluating crisis situations;
  • Conducting physical assessments; and
  • Developing treatment plans for clients living in the community
• Knowledge of:
  • Current psychotropic medications, including side effects and therapeutic effects.
  • Mental Health Reform, the Mental Health Act, and other appropriate legislation.
  • Housing, social, financial and vocational and other community resources.
• Demonstrated ability to:
  • Develop and maintain effective professional and therapeutic relationships.
  • Be flexible in work assignments and work effectively under pressure.
• Demonstrated:
  • Commitment to professional development.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a team.
  • Computer skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• A valid driver?s license and use of a vehicle.
• Proof of 2 Covid vaccines required.

Shifts:8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some 12:30 p.m. ? 8:30 p.m. shifts and weekends

Wages: Three (3) month probation: $36.67/hour

Job Rate following probation: $38.60/hour
