Responsibilities:

  • Completion and coordination of micro testing and follow-up to ensure full compliance with corporate microprogram including:
    • Fryer validation, allergen testing, water testing, environmental testing
    • Coordination of ATP/APC with QA technicians to verify sanitation processes
  • QA records compliance audits, reviews, and follow up  and m aintain internal food and raw material specifications
  • Trending, evaluation, and summary of QA and QC data as required to support bakery teams and customers (e.g. Excel, Minitab)
  • Support of bakery nonconformance program:
    • Complete SAP transactions to hold and release finished food and raw materials
    • Maintain Regrade Log and associated documentation
  • Assist in the new food development process
    • Liaise with internal and external customers in the creation and approval of new case labels, support bakery teams with label implementation
    • Product sampling and specification and visual aid guide development
    • Update bakery programs to reflect changes arising from new products (e.g. HACCP Plans, allergen information, cleaning, and changeover matrices)
  • Coordinate and document shelf-life evaluations for existing foods while maintaining customer database systems, including the SPEQ system.
  • Primary contact with Kosher certifying body, coordinate and participate in routine Kosher audits, complete associated follow-up from Kosher audits
  • Maintain and model the required hygiene, safety, and quality standards on the production floor
  • Provide vacation coverage within the FSQA department and perform other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education required, Bachelor of Science/Food Science/Microbiology preferred. 
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in quality assurance within the food industry, preferably in a bakery industry or similar environment.
  • Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FSMA).
  • Knowledge of internal audit processes and experience conducting audits is preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills alongside an effective work ethic and excellent communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong computer skills
