We are seeking a Senior Estimator for our client in Winnipeg. The ideal candidate is expected to have previous experience in the estimation of commercial, residential, and industrial projects. The candidate will supervise the estimating team in Winnipeg and report directly to the Group Head of Estimation and Pre-Construction.

Who you are
  1. You have a degree or diploma related to accounting or construction, and at least 10 years combined experience working on construction sites and conducting estimation.
  2. You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, REVIT, Primavera, Bluebeam, and BIM (Building Information Modeling) modelling.
  3. You have a strong understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics.
  4. You possess excellent numerical skills and have an analytical mindset.
  5. You have effective communication and negotiation skills.
  6. You have a working knowledge of contract language and the legal requirements of contracts.
  7. You have experience using different estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing.
  8. You have experience in supervising a team.
What you do
  1. Review documents and design blueprints to understand project requirements.
  2. Identify and develop constructability requirements for project construction.
  3. Analyze design criteria and assist in recommending options for cost, engineering quality, and availability of materials.
  4. Identify and propose project risks and cost mitigation as well as the potential for project opportunities and cost savings.
  5. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing all project costs, including materials, labor, and project duration.
  6. Present estimates to the Cost and Project Control Manager to finalize estimates for executive approval.
  7. Select and invite to tender trade partners assessed to be financially viable with adequate workforce and appropriate level of expertise to complete the work.
  8. Lead/manage the Kick-Off Meeting, weekly strategy meetings, and any formal meetings pertinent to ensuring the estimation process will meet the milestone dates established.
  9. Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  10. Lead a cross-functional team of support estimators and operational staff, assisting with planning their time, overseeing delegation and quality of work, and compiling all input required for projects.
  11. Understand potential pressures on fees and participate in discussions to accurately assess and calculate fees.
  12. Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures in all estimates and bids.
  13. Keep up with industry trends and new materials in known and new markets to ensure the company maintains competitive pricing.
