Plant Accountant

Type: 100% in office, Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Position Overview: The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the finance department with a variety of accounting tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  2. Prepare and process daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
  3. Complete month-end and year-end closing processes with little to no oversight.
  4. Generate financial reports and assist in the preparation of financial statements.
  5. Conduct variance analysis and assist in budget preparation.
  6. Review and process invoices, ensuring proper coding and authorization.
  7. Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue accounts.
  8. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  9. Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and conducting periodic physical inventory counts.
  10. Support cost accounting activities, including tracking production costs and analyzing variances.
  11. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as accounting standards and regulations.
  12. Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  13. Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
  14. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  15. Perform other accounting-related tasks as assigned by the finance manager.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (will also consider candidates without a degree but with significant work history)
  2. 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  4. Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) is a plus.
  5. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
