GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a full time, unionized position responsible for performing the day-to-day operations of the city-wide
ticketing system. This position is responsible for overseeing temporary box office activities and staff and
requires working outside of normal business hours during various events.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to the Guest Services Supervisor.
  • Oversees temporary box office activities and temporary staff.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Processes retail sales for box office events and produces ticket sales reports utilizing current citywide ticketing software.
  • Inputs events in City's ticketing software.
  • Oversees and directs training to Box Office staff on ticketing procedures and software and provides assistance in daily cash transactions.
  • Responds to client needs and concerns.
  • Processes daily cash balancing related to the Box Office.
  • Performs administrative support and reception tasks including answering telephones, monitoring emails, and assisting walk-in customers with various inquiries and requests.
  • Supports scheduling of staff related to the Box Office.
  • Works with Creative Promotions Specialist to utilize social media to promote events.
  • Ensures that public health, environmental, workplace health and safety policies, procedures, equipment, training, records are maintained in compliance with regulatory and due diligence requirements.
  • Provides merchandise services for touring shows; inventory control, staffing (if necessary) and reconciliation.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to provide friendly, courteous and professional service to internal and external customers, maintaining effective working relationships while under pressure.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft and other current office software in a network environment and ability to adapt to the current integrated ERP system and new city wide or specific applications, including working knowledge of current city ticketing system.
  • Knowledge and experience with social media applications, including Twitter, Facebook. Instagram, etc.
  • General knowledge of event management and coordination with demonstrated ability to anticipate and understand the needs and requirements of events.
  • Ability to work independently with limited directions and solve routine work problems using sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and promote a collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weeknights, weekends and/or irregular hours.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a one (1) year certificate in a related discipline such as office technology, marketing, public relations, hospitality management or event coordination.
  • Two (2) years' experience in box office with a minimum of (1) one-year supervisory experience
  • Experience with community events and other ticketing platforms an asset.
  • A management approved equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
