The Maintenance Supervisor position is responsible for assisting in the oversight and maintenance of the facilities and properties in the areas such as Mechanical Systems, General Maintenance and Grounds upkeep. This incumbent will perform ongoing maintenance, janitorial, repairs and miscellaneous related duties for the Ontario Camping Ministries.
  • Completion of Secondary School Diploma or College Diploma (2-3 academic years) or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education or training in building, property, or trades management will be considered as an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to provide a current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR and Non-violent crisis intervention training.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • A minimum of three (3) year of prior related experience various fields of maintenance and housekeeping including supervisory experience in building and/or property management.
  • Working knowledge of building codes and regulations, occupational health and safety standards, electrical systems and fire and emergency procedures
  • Knowledge of building systems preferred.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s licence, own vehicle and insurance, a copy of a current driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated professional maintenance skills in minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting.
  • Capable of operating hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and willingness to sign confidentiality statement.
  • Strong-oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Good interpersonal skills and attentive listening skills.
  • Participate as an active and responsible team member in all work groups through which position responsibilities are achieved.
  • Represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner and assist personnel whom the position supports in developing those skills as required.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
