Position Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Intermediate Geoscientist registered, or eligible to be registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC), for our Prince George office. The successful candidate will be involved in terrain stability assessments, road stability investigations, terrain mapping, and helping with reporting for various geoscience projects in the forestry and mining sectors across BC with a focus on the Northern Interior. Experience in terrain assessments, mapping, road construction, and field work in rugged environments is an asset. Successful applicants will participate in the provision of geoscience services from proposal stage through planning, fieldwork, and commissioning of projects. There may also be opportunities to assist our geotechnical group with geotechnical investigations, and to support on engineering projects with construction field reviews.


Major Job Functions:

  • Coordinating and performing terrain stability assessments and/or mapping for a variety of resource development projects.
  • Completing road deactivation assessments and associated prescriptions.
  • Watershed and/or hydrologic assessments.
  • Preparing associated professional reports and/or mapping products for the above.
  • Use of computer software such as CorelDraw, ArcMap, or QGIS for creation of maps; prior experience an asset
  • Completing Field Reviews during implementation of the prescriptions developed above.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Strong technical analysis and technical writing capabilities
  • Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work and occasional travel
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work on numerous projects
  • Willingness to learn and work under limited supervision

Education and Experience:

  • Completed a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Geoscience, Geology, Geological Engineering, or similar field
  • At least 5 years of work experience in geoscience related field
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Geoscientist with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC)
