Health and Safety, Field Contractor Advisor

Our client is a leader in the direct-to-consumer reverse logistics industry, having proudly served many Fortune 500 retailers and consumer product companies. We are looking to hire a Health and Safety Advisor to join their growing team of 500+ employees, spread across office, warehouse, and retail locations in Ontario and Alberta. This role is on-site at our client's Brantford office location.
The Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading Health and Safety programs to ensure our employees at the retail, warehouse, and corporate levels have a safe working environment. This role will be the first point of contact for safety-related concerns, and is crucial in ensuring that the company remains compliant with all local health and safety legislations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in this role and will be confident in navigating Health and Safety programs, WSIB, and training.
Program and Policy Development:
Design, implement, and revise comprehensive and mandatory health and safety policies, programs, and training.
Ensure 100% compliance on training and understanding of policies.
Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal health and safety regulations.
Regularly review and audit health and safety programs to align with industry standards.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Deliver training as needed.
Conduct regular risk audits, assessing potential risks at the retail, warehouse, and corporate locations.
Compile detailed reports and create recommendations on how to improve the safety of our work environment.
Manage WSIB and other safety boards.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and training activities.
Regulatory Compliance:
Regularly review policies and programs to ensure compliance.
Regularly update training.
Foster a Health and Safety Culture:
Foster a culture of safety awareness by engaging with employees at all levels.
Ensure all staff are trained in emergency response procedures, and ensure all locations are set up with a first aid station and evacuation instructions.
Maintain training records and ensure compliance.
Collaborate with store managers as needed.
Recommend and implement new tools, technologies, and processes to improve safety performance.
A degree or diploma in HR, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
Professional HR designation (CHRP) is an asset.
Certificate in OH&S is an asset.
3+ years experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the retail or logistics industry.
~ Program design and delivery experience is an asset.
